The Toronto Beaches today announced that defender Alex Bean has committed to play for the team in 2023.

“Alex is a huge addition to our team. He has all the tools of an elite defender,” Beaches head coach Reilly O’Connor said of the addition. “He is long, rangy and has a great stick. He has experience in the box game and we are going to rely on him this summer to play a big role on our back end.”

A Palo Alto, CA native, Bean has spent his collegiate career playing at Loyola University Maryland alongside fellow Beaches defender Josh Fairey.

Bean has appeared in four games for the Greyhounds over his first two years with the program while being named to the Patriot League Academic Honour Roll as a freshman in 2021.

"As an American, joining the Beaches organization is an opportunity of a lifetime. Jr. A lacrosse is the best it gets and for me to be given the opportunity to be a part of it is an honor," Bean said. "I look forward to competing for a Minto with this team and to be a part of the best experience in indoor lacrosse."

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound defender joins a Beaches defensive unit that will feature several returning players from the 2022 squad that helped the organization to its first Minto Cup appearance.
